01 — In short
Genius Solar Services is a rooftop solar company based in Vijay Nagar, Indore. We design and install on-grid, hybrid and elevated solar systems for homes, housing societies, shops, schools and factories across Indore, Rau, Mhow, Pithampur, Dewas and Ujjain — and handle the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, MP West Discom net metering and five years of free service.
02 — How the sun pays
From ₹4,860 to ₹390. Every month.
- 01
Your roof starts working at sunrise.
A 5 kW array in Indore produces about 20 units on an average day — more in March, less in the monsoon. That's roughly 600 units a month, from a roof that was doing nothing.
- 02
Every solar unit is a unit you don't buy.
Your home uses solar power first. The net meter counts what you draw from the grid and what you send back, and your bill is charged only on the difference.
- 03
What's left is the fixed charge.
Surplus summer units are credited against cloudy months. For many Indore homes the monthly bill drops to little more than the fixed charge and duty.
Illustrative bill for a home using 600 units a month with a 5 kW on-grid system in Indore. Fixed charges and duty depend on your connection and current MPERC tariff.

05 — Anatomy of a module
Seven layers. Twenty-five years on your roof.
01 / 07 · 3.2 mm · low-iron · anti-reflective
Tempered glass
Lets through more than 90% of sunlight while taking hail, dust storms and years of cleaning. The AR coating reduces the glare you'd otherwise lose as reflection.
The seven layers of a solar module
- Tempered glass (3.2 mm · low-iron · anti-reflective): Lets through more than 90% of sunlight while taking hail, dust storms and years of cleaning. The AR coating reduces the glare you'd otherwise lose as reflection.
- Front encapsulant (EVA / POE film): Bonds the glass to the cells and seals them from moisture — the main cause of long-term degradation in humid monsoon months.
- Solar cells (144 half-cut mono cells · 21–22.5%): Monocrystalline PERC or TOPCon cells, cut in half so each carries half the current. Lower resistive loss, and a shaded corner hurts less of the panel.
- Rear encapsulant (EVA / POE film): The second seal. Together the two layers lock the cells in place against thermal expansion through Indore's 10°C winters and 44°C summers.
- Backsheet or rear glass (Insulating · UV-stable): Electrically insulates and protects the back. In bifacial glass-glass modules a second pane lets reflected light from the roof reach the cells too.
- Aluminium frame (Anodised · earthed): Gives the laminate its stiffness, the clamping points for the structure, and a path to earth — frames are bonded to the system earthing.
- Junction box (IP68 · bypass diodes · MC4): Bypass diodes let current route around a shaded or damaged cell string instead of stalling the panel. MC4 connectors make weatherproof, polarity-safe joints.

12Questions
Straight answers.
The questions Indore homeowners ask us most. There are many more in our FAQ.
All questionsHow much does a rooftop solar system cost in Indore?
A turnkey on-grid home system with subsidy-eligible (DCR) modules typically costs ₹58,000–₹78,000 per kW before subsidy in 2026, depending on size and structure. A 3 kW system is usually ₹1.75–2.05 lakh before the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy, so roughly ₹0.97–1.27 lakh after it. Elevated structures add about ₹8,000–₹15,000 per kW.
What is the payback period of solar panels in Indore?
For homes that use most of what they generate, payback is typically 3–5 years after the PM Surya Ghar subsidy. For businesses on commercial or industrial tariffs it is often 3–4 years even without subsidy. After payback, the system continues producing for another 20 years or more.
How much solar subsidy can I get in Madhya Pradesh?
Under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, homes get ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW — ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and a maximum of ₹78,000 for 3 kW or more. Housing societies and RWAs get ₹18,000 per kW for common facilities.
What is net metering and how does it work in Indore?
Net metering replaces your normal meter with a bi-directional meter that records both units you import from the grid and units your solar system exports. You are billed only for the net units. In Indore it is provided by MP West Discom (MPPKVVCL) under MPERC net-metering regulations.
What size solar system do I need for my home?
Divide your average monthly units by about 120 (what 1 kW generates per month in Indore). A home using 360 units a month needs about 3 kW; 600 units needs about 5 kW. Our calculator reads your bill and does this for you.
Which is better for Indore: on-grid, off-grid or hybrid solar?
On-grid is best for most Indore homes and businesses: lowest cost, highest savings, net metering and subsidy. Hybrid adds a battery for backup during power cuts at extra cost. Off-grid suits only sites without reliable grid supply.
How often should solar panels be cleaned in Indore?
Every two to three weeks in the dry, dusty months (February–June), and less often during the monsoon. Dust can cut output by 5–15%. Use soft water and a soft brush or mop early in the morning; avoid detergents, abrasive powders and high-pressure jets.
Can I buy solar on EMI or with a loan?
Yes. Under PM Surya Ghar, public-sector banks offer collateral-free loans for home systems up to 3 kW at concessional interest (around 7%). For larger systems, banks offer solar loans at regular rates. We help with the paperwork.
Which solar brands does Genius Solar install?
We supply and install modules from Adani Solar, Vikram Solar and Luminous, and inverters from Havells, Luminous and Polycab, among others. You choose the brand; we explain the differences.
